The New iPhone 4s?
The new iPhone, 4s, was officially announced on October 7, 2011 along with some interesting additions to the previous model. The question most people are asking is whether the iPhone 4s is worth it or not. Well, the answer is more sophisticated than a simple yes or no and we will se why in a little bit. Let's state the specs/improvements of the new iPhone 4s very quick to get to know it a little better.
New iPhone 4S Additions/improvements from the iPhone 4 (previous model)
- Now available in 64gb size
- Dual Core A5 Chip
- Now available for Sprint users
- Built-in assistant Siri
- 8 mega-pixel camera with face recognition
- 1080p video recording
- World Phone
- 8 hours talk time on 3G
- 14 hours talk time on 2G
- 200 hours stand by time
Alright, now that we know the improvements of the new iPhone 4S, we need to know what some of them mean:
- Dual A5 Core chip makes it 2x faster and 7x better graphics
- Sprint offers the unlimited everything plan which puts it ahead of its competitors also offering the new iPhone 4S
- Siri allows you to talk to your iPhone just like you are talking to your friend/s while understanding what you mean
- An 8 mega-pixel camera with face recognition means almost twice the quality of your pictures compared to the 5 mega-pixel on the previous iPhone
- 1080p recording can take HD quality videos with better clarity and detail than the older iPhone
- Being a World Phone allows the iPhone 4s to be unlocked and able to work on any carrier in the world which is a big step in its improvement
- Having a 200 hour stand by time is not as awesome as the 300 hour stand by time of the previous model but its a price you have to pay
The two major setbacks for the iPhone 4S is the fact that it looks exactly the same as the previous iPhone 4 and that it does not offer 4G data coverage. Now that we've seen the good and the bad of the new iPhone 4S we can answer the question of it being worth it or not? Well, I'm afraid that the answer is totally up to you on this one. However I will state my opinion, as a well educated smartphone user, that if you currently own an iPhone 4 it is not worth upgrading it to the new iPhone 4S (no one in public will know if you have the 4S or 4). On the other hand, if you are a Sprint/AT&T/Verizon user who have not previously owned an iPhone 4 and are eligible for an upgrade you should definitely go for the iPhone 4S as it is worth an extra $100 bucks.

Great article! I wrote a hub on the same thing and I missed out on some key points like the fact that sprint customers can use it and it's dual core chip. Overall, very interesting.
